26/02/2010 - Denis applauds Council Tax freeze

Denis Healy is happy to hear Lib Dems on Hull City Council have won a freeze on council tax this year

Denis Healy is happy to hear Lib Dems on Hull City Council have won a freeze on council tax this year. This was in contrast to the Labour plan calling for 5% hikes every year from 2006.

The Lib Dems are delighted to say this was a saving of £9 million made purely by cutting back on bureaucracy and waste.

Denis Healy says:

"Its good to see the Liberal Democrats in Hull leading the charge against Labour's legacy of excess. The £9 million this will save the taxpayers of Hull is exactly what they need in this recession."

"The Liberal Democrats have shown that by being responsible with people's money, real savings can be passed on to local people."
