Politics in Hull

The Parliamentary Seat of Hull North is closely contested by the Liberal Democrats and Labour. The Liberal Democrats slashed Labour’s majority in the 2005 General election, and won the popular vote in the 2007 Local Elections. Only the Lib Dems can beat Labour in Hull, all other parties are out of the picture.

The Conservatives are out of the race in Hull. They have just 3 Councillors in the entire city (out of a total of 59), and have finished a distant third in recent elections. Many Conservative supporters are lending their vote to the Liberal Democrats at the next General Election, as the only party able to defeat Labour.
