In the General Election, Lib Dem campaigner Denis Healy came just 641 votes short of breaking Labour's stranglehold on Hull.
As expected, the election was a closely fought race between local man Denis and Labour's London-based MP.
If just 642 of the people who voted Conservative or for a minority party had leant their support to the Lib Dems, Labour would have been beaten.
"Thank you to everyone who supported me and the Lib Dems" said Denis. "Rest assured that we will continue to campaign for a better deal for Hull
and fight for this area. Labour mustn't be allowed to take Hull for granted!"
